Ethiopia Coba

Medium body, Honey, Strawberry, and Pineapple

€13,50

Habtamu Fekadu Aga's passion for coffee began when his grandfather, Mr. Aaga Dinsa, invited him to come along to the plantations and pass on his knowledge at his farm in Kuri Kebele. The family stayed active in the coffee industry, and in 2015 Habtamu founded his own coffee cooperative Coba, focused on new regions including Guji and Jimma. To guarantee consistent quality, Habtamu is fully committed to training the local coffee farmers. For Habtamu, education and a fair distribution of wealth are essential.

The independent farmers receive a bonus during harvest and share in the profits from sales. During the harvest Habtamu provides accommodation and meals for the pickers. Throughout the year, the farmers are trained in organic harvesting and processing methods.

Habtamu's social engagement reaches beyond the washing station and includes 3 important projects:

  • The construction of a school in the Suke community.
  • The laying of a 3 km road between Woreda Yabitu Coba and the village of Tome.
  • Supplying drinking water in the most remote areas.

This coffee is natural processed: the cherries are dried whole in the sun. This gives the bean its characteristic full body and fruity, wine-like notes. The coffee is suitable for both espresso and filter and has the following flavour description: medium body, honey, floral, strawberry, pineapple and citrus fruits.
